Probodh Mukherjee passed away at a private hospital in Mumbai following a cardiac arrest. He was 88 years old. Mukherjee is survived by wife & two sons -Tapan & Basu, who are into distribution business.

He died at 23:55 hrs (IST) on Saturday night at Nanavati Hospital where he was hospitalised for the last one week. Prabodh was younger brother of Sashdhar & Subodh Mukherji.

He produced several films like “Junglee” , “April fool” , “Sharmili” , “Love Marriage” , “Shagird” , “Abhinetri” , “Ladke Baap se badke” & “Mr Romeo”.

And so passes the end of a generation. These were people that started the phenomenon that would become Bollywood. When you met the man he knew you were in the presence of greatness and yet he was did not call attention to himself. It has been my privilege to meet such a man and his legacy will endure and he will be sorely missed.
